This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Be the change you want to see in the world," Mahatma Gandhi said, and my students apply this quote in my classroom and dream big every day. The thought of them having a new, big, and clean carpet to gather in our magical place is very exciting for them.

My energetic kindergartners are between the ages of five and six.

They are very excited about school and soak up information like sponges. They attend a school in New York. School is a real haven for most of these students. They come in with bright, little faces and they have a million stories to share.

My Project

The carpet in an early childhood classroom is undoubtedly the heart of the classroom. The children spend the majority of the time in this magical place. From the moment they enter the room till the moment they are dismissed they are learning in this place. On any typical day in my classroom, you will find children sitting attentively and completely engaged in the lessons. Unfortunately, the carpet that we have now has been used for the last 10 years and it's extremely dirty. Further, by mid year the children have grown a lot and they barely could all fit on the carpet. On this carpet, they will learn about reading, math, social studies, science, life issues, songs, and dancing. This will be such a huge donation that will benefit children for years to come.

The heart of any room is the meeting area.

Having a new, big, and clean carpet will be an amazing way to start our year together. It would be great if they could all have their own individual space on the carpet. Furthermore, the carpet has letters that could be used for reinforcing basic concepts. This will impact the way my class will learn throughout the entire year.
