My Project

Many of my students struggle with math not just in skill but in confidence. As a Title I math teacher, I work with students who face learning challenges, and by the time they reach 3rd or 4th grade, many have become passive learners, believing they’re simply "not good at math." I refuse to let them give up on themselves.

My goal is to reignite their curiosity and confidence through hands-on, engaging activities that transform math from something intimidating into something exciting and fun.

To help my students build both math skills and self-esteem, I want to create an opportunity for them to eat together in the classroom while assembling their own "Make and Take" fact fluency game kits. Using a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card, I will purchase interactive math games such as Flip and Multiply, Multiply Four in a Row, and Mad Monkey Bump.

Students will put together ziplock bags filled with game pieces, chips, dry-erase markers, and game boards to use during our Lunch Bunch math sessions or to practice at home. These kits will provide a fun, hands-on way for students to reinforce essential math skills while fostering a sense of accomplishment and excitement.

With this grant, I can equip my students with the resources they need to rebuild their confidence and view math as an adventure rather than a struggle.
