My Students

The Middle Schoolers at Libertas College Prep are the hardest working middle schoolers in the country! They have a passion for learning and understand that success takes self-determination and grit. I've seen these kids do amazing things with limited resources.

I believe my students are the most talented group in all of South Los Angeles!

Probably the most talented in world if I'm being honest. They are brilliant, kind, and a bunch of weirdos. They deserve so much more than I and their other teachers can give them.

My Project

I want to foster a love of reading in my class, but my library is severely lacking. I have very few books and the books I do have are largely not grade appropriate, beaten up, or simply uninteresting. I will use these books every day during an independent reading block. Our objective this year is that every student reads 40 books from a variety of genres. We are simply not equipped. A properly outfitted library would change the face of independent reading. The books from this project will go directly into my class library for kids to enjoy.

I believe in the power of books and my students deserve powerful books!
