Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

While all teachers are convinced they have the BEST class in their school, county, state (etc.), I am almost positive! My group of 22 exceptional students have been working very hard during our reading block. My goal for them is to become fluent fourth grade readers and a classroom full of leaders!

We are proud to be "Reid Ravens".

We are constantly looking for ways to improve our school and community. This year we began implementing the "Leader in Me" program. I have a number of ESL students and a very wide range of reading levels from 1st grade-7th grade, who truly enjoy reading for fun and for learning. We are an inner city, urban community.

My Project

My students look forward to our time at the beginning of each reading block, where they relax and listen to a good book. This classroom meeting time is invaluable to their literacy block. During this time, fluent reading is modeled, and the students discuss their understandings of, and connections to good literature. The students would absolutely love having a comfortable rug to sit on while they enjoy this time. The easel will serve as a visual aide to assist each learning style of my individual students as we create graphic organizers, share ideas, and discuss what we have read during that day. During Writer's Workshop I often like to reference literature that we read during whole group, to model excellent writing.

These donations will dramatically change this classroom now and for the remainder of the year.

Our reading block will be enriched, improved, and made much more comfortable for all!
