Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at our school are amazing!

The students are excited about learning and the school environment fosters their desire to explore, experiment and take risks!

When you enter the building you can feel the sense of pride that everyone from the students, to the teachers, administration, staff, and volunteers has for this very special place.

We are in an especially inclusive neighborhood that appeals to many new immigrant families. Our school is diverse in all possible ways - from the languages spoken at home to the arts and culture that each family brings. We are so lucky to have this diversity as well as the varied learning styles our students have, and as a barrier-free school, every child can thrive!

My Project

The last 18 months have been very challenging for everyone. They have been especially difficult for children. Children lack the vocabulary and coping skills that adults have to express their fears and concerns. This year I am the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) teacher in my building. I visit 20 different classrooms each week ranging from Pre-K through 5th grade.

As the SEL teacher I am working with students to learn ways to express their emotions and different activities that they can do to help them self-regulate.

The A Little SPOT of Emotion and A Little SPOT of Feelings books and materials I am requesting would support my students tremendously.
