My Students

My students enjoy our engineering program for a variety of reasons: a chance to apply math and science skills, an affinity for building, curiosity of how things work or just a pure love of solving problems. Our curriculum is geared toward preparing our students for college STEM programs and related careers. During their senior capstone project, they engage extensively with research, problem identification and hands-on work to solve a problem by prototyping a physical solution. They thrive on working together in groups toward this goal and the skills they learn will be invaluable to them in college.

My students have been awesome at working hard despite the changes brought about by CoVid-19.

Without access to prototyping equipment it was difficult to complete their capstone projects to their fullest potential. However, they have embraced the alternate resources and tools we've provided them. For the past few weeks they have been doing coding projects using virtual platforms including VEX Virtual Robotics.

My Project

Students and their families are experiencing stress of all types during this extraordinary time - shared work spaces; economic hardship, illness and even the loss of loved ones. My seniors are hard-working, ambitious and bright. They haven't allowed CoVid-19 to stop them. They've demonstrated that they can continue to work hard, learn, and achieve great success all while adapting to this new normal. My admiration for them has quadrupled during this experience. When Donor's Choose presented the opportunity to help ease their transition to college, I could not pass up the chance.

My engineering students have faced the challenges of CoVid-19 and overcome; this semester they've readied themselves for a new type of college-life whether it means remote learning or some hybrid version.

Providing them with the tools they need for the remainder of the school year and for college will continue to inspire them to do great things.
