Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a group of 48 second graders who are eager and excited to learn. These kids come from a variety of backgrounds and they all have very individual learning needs. Some kids are ELL, some struggle with reading or math, and some need to be challenged. These kids spent the last three months of first grade doing distance learning at home, and the beginning of second grade in distance learning mode. Now we are finally hybrid and the kids are to excited to come to their classroom.

My Project

I would love to create a little welcoming reading nook area in my classroom to encourage more reading. I am requesting two gray storage ottomans to push up against my windows to create a special reading center. I want to have a place where my students can go and get lost in a good book. I will be able to store my monthly themed books inside the ottomans to allow easy access. I am also requesting some throw pillows so that my students will have something cozy to lean against.
