This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach 1st grade in the Bronx. This is my first year as a first grade teacher after nearly 2 decades in upper elementary grades. I am learning SO much about little learners that I never had to consider before.

They are super active and need a near constant stream of stimulus!

We are looking to supply our room with things (all the things!) that will help to keep the room clean, organized, and efficient... but still FUN! We are always short on time, so finding ways to create long-lasting systems is such a priority and overlooked need to help keep kids learning. The easel and magnets will provide quick use across subjects so that learners quickly become engaged without a lot of wasted time looking for their individual letters and boards (which are often missing parts). Our space is limited so the easel and letters are things that can be brought to the level of small groups and/or for students to use in various settings (math, reading, writing, social-emotional lessons, science, and social studies) that allow them to practice a variety of skills and providing them with increased independence. These items will support this need!
