This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At PHS, we aim to create a classroom environment that nurtures academic excellence while prioritizing emotional and social well-being. This proposal requests funding for specific materials—ambient lighting, plants, growing supplies, and stress-relief tools—to enhance the educational experience for students in our class.

Adjustable, soft lighting will create a calming atmosphere, reducing stress and promoting focus.

Living plants for both decorative and functional purposes will help improve air quality, provide hands-on learning opportunities, and offer socio-emotional benefits. Essential for student-led plant growth projects, fostering responsibility and engagement. Simple but effective tools for students to channel anxiety and maintain focus.

A calming environment with ambient lighting and stress-relief tools can reduce overstimulation and anxiety, enabling students to stay engaged during lessons. Plants and gardening materials will introduce real-world applications of science and environmental studies, fostering curiosity and critical thinking skills. Caring for plants teaches patience, responsibility, and teamwork while offering therapeutic benefits. For students navigating socio-emotional challenges, these activities provide a productive outlet for their emotions.

We strive to improve focus and participation in math, literacy, and writing through a supportive environment. Cultivate resilience, collaboration, and self-regulation. Engage students in understanding the importance of sustainability through hands-on activities.

Students in Special Class 151 are exceptional in their diversity of strengths, perspectives, and potential. They face unique challenges but show immense resilience and curiosity.
