My Students

I teach a small group of 3rd-5th grade students with a variety of cognitive, physical, and speech impairments in my school's Specific Learning Supports Program. For each student, learning occurs differently and the needs of each student are never the same. But this is the beauty of the learning process in my classroom. To watch my students attack independent learning goals while developing social relationships with their peers, has been nothing short of amazing.

My students are currently in the space where they are enjoying distance learning but still missing the classroom experience.

Every week we found ourselves thinking about how things were simpler in the classroom. We're also becoming aware of the things that we need while at home.

My Project

We're still in search of a few odds and ends to assist us with delivering the best instruction possible for students. With that in mind, we have created a project that will provide us with a hodgepodge of items that will assist us in getting the job done! Items that will provide great utility once we pair it with products that we actually have in our possession.

Often, we find ourselves reminding each other to "pack our patience", a skill that is needed now more than ever.

While we are only in week three of distance learning, our list continues to grow for items that are needed at home. In the classroom, I am able to keep my student and teacher files secured in file folders. For this project, I am requesting several file folder storage units to hold important student and teacher documentation. This will also be most efficient when the documentation needs to be returned back to school upon reopening. An office mat is needed to prevent from sliding around in the virtual office space and to also prevent floor damage. All teachers love a good pen and a colorful pack of post-it notes. I will be able to use these items for note-taking that occurs during lessons and virtual meetings.

We are also requesting stands to elevate the height of our computers and monitors. I have taken advantage of the height of my teacher's desk in my classroom. When compared to my home office space, these stands will provide me with better posture to withstand the required time needed on the computer. We really hope that you will be able to assist us with our hodgepodge project!
