My Students

The school year has been off to an amazing start so far. Although my class size is small this year, the learning that occurs is quite the opposite. Each day, my students show me how much they enjoy learning, and their academic and social improvements show their efforts.

We're located in Washington, DC in an area where students feel comfortable with their school community.

Because my students get to loop with me each year from grades 3-5, many of them have been with me for more than one year. During this time, we have become a family. At the same time, my students are becoming a bit older. As some of them prepare to transition into middle school, I want to be able to educate them in hygiene. Due to financial restraints, it can be difficult for families to fully facilitate this at home and I would like to be able to assist them with the strategies needed to promote good hygiene!

My Project

Accidents can happen both at home and at school. When it happens at home, students are better prepared for next steps. On the rare occasions that this may happen at school, I want to be prepared. We have a solid supply of uniform pants but not enough undergarments. For my class, one bulk pack of boxers would be suitable for my group.

This is one of our most sensitive projects because of the items that we are requesting.

My students play hard during morning and afternoon recess. They may forget to use, or not have access to deodorant at home. As they become older, there is a need to be preventative. We're hoping that a trial size bulk pack of Degree deodorant will get the job done, along with body wash to be used before arriving to school! Part of having a successful day is how you feel. It helps with being your best self. For my students, I want them to be able to feel good while learning.

I notice a handful of students arriving to school in the colder months without socks or a hat at times. One bulk pack of socks along with a bulk pack of beanies will provide them with extended warmth they will need for winter outdoor recess. In the months to come, I will be working with the social worker to present students with a hygiene class. I hope to be able to assist parents with modeling that characteristics of good hygiene for students.

We hope you will be able to help us with our project!
