Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school's focus is big on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) and with this academics is always something that we encourage our students to try their best in. With a school of nearly 450 students, we are always looking for ways to help our students keep an interest in not only the classroom but in elective classes, as well as clubs and recess. With this project, games, such as Oversized 4 in a Row Connect Game and Story Time Chess, will not only provide our students with a way to challenge their minds but also ways that they can learn how to fail and succeed, building their self-esteem. In providing opportunities to play challenging games, with flexible sitting available, the focus on critical/strategic thinking will increase higher-level thinking and build peer relationships. Problem-solving skills are naturally learned through board games and this will allow kids to think flexibly.
