My Students

My students are three year olds participating in the 3K For All program in the South Bronx neighborhood of New York City. Our school was one of the first to pilot the program in 2017. My students have given life to the 3K program.

My students love coming to school and are eager to learn and play each day.

We spend our days engaged in hands on learning activities that help our students gain valuable school readiness skills. My students love to be creative through dramatic play, building and the arts. Our classroom is buzzing with activity and joy.

My Project

These books will create a library that is culturally responsive and reflects the diversity of my students. It is vital to learning for students to see themselves represented in their classroom. I want my students feel confident in their place in our world.

By reflecting students cultures in our classroom library we show that students are valued and important.

These texts will help make connections between school and home and build community in our classroom. When students feel connected to literature they are more engaged in learning.

In our classroom we have books everywhere! We will read these stories to enhance our curriculum and develop students love of reading. Young children request stories to be read over and over and I know these books will be well loved!
