My Project

My name is Ashley G (Miss G) and I am setting out to build a library that will help my fourth grade students fall in love with reading. I work for a Title 1 school that services under-resourced communities, including a high English language learning population.

Having these texts in my library will increase student joy and incentivize academic growth that will lead them to become strong, independent readers.

I believe that in any library, students should have access to texts that are filled with relatable experiences that allow them to "see themselves" through the characters and events. As such, many of these texts showcase main characters that represent racial, cultural, and socioeconomic diversity.
