Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We would like to create a comfy area in the classroom where the students can relax and look through books to initiate a love for reading. We are asking for a comfy couch to lounge on, book storage, board book collections to explore and read, and storage for big books in our classroom. We will also use the board book collections to create a lending library in the classroom. We encourage our parents to read to their children every night to help them expand their vocabulary and story comprehension. The problem is that sometimes our students do not have books to read with their parents at home. After a long day, getting to the library and picking out books to bring home is hard. So, we would like to have books dedicated to our Lending Library where the students can take a book out to read at home and bring it back to the classroom when they are done.

This project will help extend literacy to our students and their families.

We are hoping to get the children excited to read every day in school and at home. With all of these materials, we will begin a lifelong adventure for all of our students through imagination and reading.
