A Library for a Culture of Passionate Readers

My students need new books that suit their interests. They are looking for funny books, graphic novels, and complete series.

My Students

Our Alaskan, STEM school is special. We offer and alternative learning opportunity for kids who have had difficulty in the traditional model. Through project-based learning experiences, outdoor education, and a small, warm community, we hope to foster a love of learning in all of our middle grade students.

A love of learning starts with a love of reading.

Our students are ready to fill our library with more chances to develop their reading skills and engage with their imaginations. Our library is new, and small, but our students take pride in it, often requesting books or donating their own so their peers can try it, too.

My Project

These books will continue to enhance the culture of reading I hope to build in my classroom. Each title on this list satisfies a need in our library that students have presented to me. In order to foster a love of reading, students need books that they love staring at them right in the face.

A lively reading community requires that a book is available to inspire and interest every student.

Our reading culture values choice and free exploration of student passions. This means we need lots of diverse books to satisfy the needs of every unique child's imagination wherever she or he is on their unique reading journey.
