I am a high school Spanish teacher in a high needs New York City school. This year I am teaching sophomores and an Advanced Placement Spanish Literature class.

My goal for this year is to get my students talking, not just with each other and me, but with the Spanish speaking world. I have found a variety of websites that allow teachers around the world to set up video chats in different languages. I would love my students to be able to have a Spanish-English conversation with students from another country.

The problem is, we don't have a computer in our classroom to make this happen. We really need a laptop computer with a webcam for this to be a success. This project would benefit my students now and in the future as they would actually be putting their Spanish to use by talking to kids their own age! This will undoubtedly inspire a love for language and different cultures that they will carry with them throughout high school and beyond. This would even help them become stronger Spanish students and make them more confident in tackling advanced level and college Spanish courses.

Your help will ensure that my students get the best Spanish speaking experience possible from our classroom. This would be such an excellent motivation for them to come to class and speak to other kids their age.
