Hi. I’m a Science Teacher in a Title 1 School, which serves an urban population of students. The majority of our students receive free/reduced lunch due to their socioeconomic status. In the day of Covid 19, this global pandemic has changed the course of education and how education is delivered. I'm a Science teacher and I'm constantly researching different ways to engage my students through different platforms, simulations, videos, etc. Science is ACTION! I want to give my students Science lessons that are engaging and fascinating, this takes a lot of time and research. My personal laptop was destroyed and that prevents me from working from home during the evening and on weekends. Teaching is more than an 8 hour a day job, it's working until you have pieced together the best lesson possible. I'm requesting a laptop that I can use to work from home to provide my students with the best lesson possible.
My students will benefit from me acquiring a laptop because I'll be able to focus all of my attention on them during class. When the computer in the classroom isn't working properly, I'll be able to quickly pivot and use the laptop. Without having a working laptop at home, I have to borrow minutes from class (working in addition to helping my students).
I would love to concentrate solely on my students and the lesson at hand.
A laptop will allow me to work when I get home, instead of trying to squeeze it into class time; which is nearly impossible.
