My Project

The use of books in our classroom is met daily. My students love having time to select their own stories based on their likes and dislikes. I set time aside every day for students to explore text for pleasure or to know more about a topic they are interested in at the time! I allow my students to select 5 texts on Monday for them to explore throughout the week and we keep our genres and topics rotating so they never get bored.

These book bins will not only provide independence for students to keep their books contained and teach them responsibility, but they will also stand as a symbol of the importance of reading and what it means for each individual.

As a new teacher book bins are a very pricey item that in my first year I had to settle on by choosing a cheaper brand. Within 1 year these boxes have already been broken by the weight of students' books. I would love to provide them with a sturdy bin that will last through the years. There is nothing like having your students so excited to get their "book bins" out and begin exploring!

By donating to our project you will be fostering a love for reading in our 1st grade classroom! Students are able to customize their bins to be filled with text that matches them and their needs/wants!
