Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a neighborhood that struggles with poverty, gangs, and drugs. Many of these kids will be the first in their families to enter college after they graduate from high school.

My students are a dynamic, creative, restless bunch of teenagers.

Their interests range from fashion, to sports, to politics and film.

My students, what makes them special is their dedication to theatre arts. The hours they spend, the work they put in, the sacrifices they make, it is extremely inspiring.

My Project

Over the past few years, donors have been extremely generous to us! We now have 7 lavalier microphones and bodypacks that we can use for big stage productions and that technology has made such a positive impact. However, our cast consists of more than 7 students, leaving a few without.

By donating for 2 more microphones, our productions will grow and my students will be heard.

It's been about 12 years since our school has put on a Spring musical. Tragically, generations of students will have graduated and never had the opportunity to experience such a unique, important, and universal part of American High School.
