This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Pete the Cat is always a class favorite. This year however, Pete the Cat is what my classroom is ALL about. I work with special needs children who are on the autism spectrum, and feeding into their special interests is a key element of keeping kids engaged and excited about learning.

Pete the Cat teaches so many lessons on emotional regulation, dealing with uncomfortable social situations, and of course-- being groovy!

I've chosen items for this project that are favorite read alouds, leveled guided reading books, and new books in the series that I think will catch my students' attention. In addition I've included some classroom decorations to match our learning materials as well as a Pete the Cat themed game to work on turn taking skills and communication skills.
