My Students

I teach a fabulous group of hardworking scholars at a large urban school in Southern California. I have 26 active, curious learners. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and socioeconomic levels, and the one thing that unites them is their respect for one another, collaboration, and a desire to create. They come to school each day prepared to work hard, learn, problem solve, and face new challenges. They are kind, funny, and inquisitive. They love to propose ideas, suggestions, and problem solve through hands-on investigations. I feel privileged to work with such an amazing group of students.

My Project

A multimodal approach to learning is the best way to differentiate, build knowledge and inspire creative thinking. That is why I believe a green screen would be a great addition to our classroom. Green screen allows students to discuss, evaluate or reflect on their learning using their imagination and digital skills. Students can share a story or get into character using a background setting of their choice.

In remote learning, I no longer have bulletin boards to display my students' work, nor do students have an audience of classmates to share assignments with.

This is where a green screen comes in to save the day! Green screens offer opportunities for expressive, creative work that can be shared with families and classmates to bring purpose to their learning. WIN!

Also, in remote learning, students are unable to go on field trips that foster deeper understanding and experience. Again, green screen for the win because as a class we would have the ability to transport ourselves to many different places via Green Screen field trips! These virtual trips around the universe would be possible because of the magic of green screen technology, and to take them, my class won’t even have to leave their home.

Green screen offers so many engaging opportunities for students to learn. It creates excitement and engagement for students to share their creative learning while creating and sharing their knowledge on a subject area. Green screen can transport our class anywhere in the world while gaining knowledge and vocabulary. When remote learning is over, students can use the portable green screen to create movies, share a story, or get into character using a background setting of their choice. A green screen would be a fabulous addition in our classroom to express learning using 21st century technology.
