This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am seeking funding to enhance our underfunded elementary Physical Education (PE) program with the purchase of scooters, a simple but effective tool that promotes active learning, physical fitness, and inclusive play for our students. With limited resources, our PE program faces challenges in providing diverse, engaging, and developmentally appropriate activities that support students' physical, social, and emotional growth. Scooters offer an exciting way to incorporate fun and dynamic exercises into our curriculum, encouraging students to develop strength, coordination, teamwork, and motor skills while engaging in a variety of safe and enjoyable activities.
Need for the Project:
The current state of our PE program lacks the equipment necessary to meet the diverse needs of our student body. With limited resources, many of our students only have access to basic equipment such as balls and jump ropes. While these items are valuable, they do not provide the variety of activities needed to engage students with different abilities and interests. Scooters are an affordable, versatile addition that can be used for individual, small group, or large group activities, offering a chance for all students, regardless of skill level, to participate in physical activities that are fun and challenging.
Project Goals and Objectives:
Increase Physical Activity: To provide students with opportunities for physical activity that improve overall fitness, motor skills, and coordination.
Promote Social and Emotional Learning: To encourage teamwork, communication, and problem-solving through cooperative games and group activities using scooters.
Enhance Curriculum Engagement: To diversify the PE curriculum by incorporating fun and interactive scooter-based activities that align with national and state standards for physical education.
Ensure Accessibility for All Students: To provide an inclusive learning environment where students of all abilities can participate in meaningful physical activities that foster confidence, skill development, and a lifelong appreciation for fitness.
