This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I hate wasted time! I find that sharpening pencils takes away from my student's learning time. It would be really convenient for my students to have their own sharpener. I would also like for each student to have a quick/easy way to make and keep flashcards with their own spiraled-index card book.

My students live in a high needs community in North Las Vegas.

They are excited to learn and grow. I want to be able to provide them with the materials they need to make their journeys easier. Our parents are struggling to buy their children school supplies. When my students need something, I try to buy it myself. However, in this economy I am struggling too.

My Project

My students would greatly benefit from having their own personal sharpener at their convenience. I am only able to provide one pencil per student. When it breaks, they have to leave the classroom to sharpen it. I hate having them out of my class and away from learning. My students would also benefit from having a mini spiraled index card book. I want my students to be able to create flashcards while we learn. For example, if we learn the definition of an adverb, they would be able to create a card right away. It would stay in the neat spiraled book and they would be able to add to it each day. My goal is for them to have a completed book with all the facts a third grader should know by the end of the year.

My project is important because I feel my students need these resources to help them succeed.

A simple thing as a sharpener would help cut the wasted tine. The index card book would be a great way for them to study at their desk.
