A googol and other math vocabulary terms will soon become basic words for my second grade students. I teach 18 second grade students in a low income school. I have the responsibility to creatively teach all subjects at a variety of levels.

My students are all learning at a variety of different levels. In our reading class we are able to use centers for small group instruction and practice. In math, we do not have enough materials to use groups daily, even though that is the best tool for instructing these children.

In order to create learning games for my students I will need card stock. I have previously used plain white paper that is see-through which allowed the students to cheat at the games. Literature based on our math standards is needed for the students to begin practicing to read to learn during our center time. A listening center activity will also be useful for reinforcing the standards. Other manipulative are needed for hands on practice.

With your help my 18 eager students will be able to practice their math facts independently or in small groups while having fun learning. When young students enjoy learning they are taking the beginning steps at becoming life long learners and you could have a hand in that process.
