Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

About My Students

This project is really exciting because it came directly from the students. These kids looked around and decided what they needed to be successful and are now asking for it. These students are amazing hard workers who stay after school for long hours to create something that students.

The students each year put on a celebration. Each year I ask that the students create the ideas and plans for it, so that it means more to them. This year, the students decided on a lofty but amazing plan to create with teamwork. They started asking in our community for supplies but it has been slow going. We need the stage lights and microphone equipment to help reach their goal.

This project will require these students to work together throughout the entire process. They will work and build upon each others successes. This project will also give students real life experience that will translate to the work force. Several of my students have gone on to work in the Stage Design industry and the skills they learn in my class and through these projects help to to be career ready and gain scholarships in College.

In Their Own Words

In this project we want to create something cool that will impress our parents and peers. We want to create a show that we can be proud of. We are designing a set and lights to allow us to put on a wicked show. We need these stage lights and microphones equipment to allow our show to be professional.

Each of us have certain jobs in this project. We decided as team that it would be best if we all took charge of something. This requires that we work hard to talk to each other and plan. We spend a lot of time after school planning what comes next and what we need.

In our community we put on this huge show that everyone attends. We have an opportunity to show them the amazing things that we do and present something that we can be proud of. We want people to talk about it afterward. The lights will let us illuminate our fellow students and microphones will allow everyone to hear them. We want something that we can give to the community to say "Thank you".
