Help Mrs. K.

Our small K-12 school, located on the Southwest coast of Louisiana, was destroyed by hurricane Rita 2 years ago. We are now able to move back into our newly re-built school after being in portable buildings for the past 2 years. We are so excited to finally get back to a normal school routine! We will be starting school with the bare minimum resources such as text books. Since losing all our extra materials, we are trying to get the much needed hands-on items needed to make learning FUN! Children learn more when the experience is fun and interactive. I enjoy teaching my high school math classes with activities to enhance the lessons. Students enjoy getting up out of their desks, going outside, and doing group activities. These type of activities help students relate math to their real lives. Much of the math learned in school is not remembered once school is over because we do not connect it to LIFE. In order to do this we need materials and manipulatives to do so. Such items include: an extra long outdoor measuring tape, large whiteboard compass and protractors, puzzle books, a classroom set of dice, and graphing materials. Please help me make math a FUN and memorable learning experience for my students. It is a true joy to see their faces light up when they understand a concept and enjoy learning.
