Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I’m a second grade teacher in Miami, Florida and I teach a wide variety of culturally diverse students from different economic backgrounds. As a result, many of them have limited access to academic resources at home. My students work hard and are super excited to practice, to learn and grow.

My goal as an early childhood educator is to create an environment to support all learning styles.

Second grade is such an exhilarating age group as children are learning to become more independent and responsible. My students are looking forward to expanding their knowledge and are eager to learn in different ways.

My Project

I am requesting decorative items so that we can create a welcoming classroom for our students. Creating an inviting classroom that gets students motivated to come to school is important and this last school year has been extremely difficult for everyone. For next school year, I want to create a bright and inviting classroom environment that makes students feel welcome, relaxed, safe and excited about second grade.

This project will provide a total new look to our classroom which will make my students feel calm and inspired to achieve their goals.

Right now we have a watercolor theme but with all that has occurred around the world, it’s time for a fresh, new start. A lemon zest theme will do just that. With its warm and enticing colors, the students will be excited to come to school everyday. They spend the majority of the day in school so it’s important to make them feel at ease.
