I am a Special Education Teacher at PS 197 in Harlem New York. This year I will be teaching first grade (inclusion) class and I would like to create a classroom library that will inspire my students to read in order to improve their reading skills. The majority of children that attend my school are from low income households therefore books are usually left off the shopping list. I would like to create a classroom library from which my students will be able to take books home every night, read them and write book reviews. Books like Clifford, The Big Red Dog, Dr. Seus, among others will be more than welcome. The reading Renausaunce Program was introduced at our school to encourage the children to read at least two books every day and complete a quiz for each book on the computer. Books donated will give the children a wider variety to choose from. My students and I will be more than grateful for your donations as you will be helping to boost reading skills in the early student development process.
