My Students

My students are awesome. They don't come from the easiest neighborhood to grow up in, but they persevere anyway. They work hard to achieve their goals. We're in a small school in Brooklyn where everyone needs to get creative. Our budget is limited and the students have learned that they don't get the best, but we all make the most of what we have.

My students are passionate and inquisitive.

Most will be pushing their limits for the first time by taking a computer science class AND an AP class for the first time this year. They were selected not just for academic skill but for interest and enthusiasm.

My Project

We will be creating Android apps as part of AP Computer Science Principles. In order to successfully develop and test these apps against their code, we need Android devices to run them on.

Help my students learn coding skills with these devices that will lead to the 21st Century job market.

Technology jobs are the quickest-growing and slowest-filled jobs out there. By taking AP Computer Science Principles, my students will develop skills that will give them an edge in a job market in which minorities and females are underrepresented. It is the goal of the class to bridge that gap for my students.

Mr. Nagy Urban Action Academy Grades 9-12

Celebrate Black teachers and kids! This project supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of students are Black.
