My Project

The students at my school come from a variety of home backgrounds, but they have this library in common. We are impacted by inclement weather, like tornados, snow, & ice, throughout the school year. This results in the emotional impact of worry and fear for our students when they are at home. My hope is to create a safe and familiar place in the library. All students, regardless of grade look forward to center time during library. By having designated areas with seating, rugs, and building sets, they will have a safe space to breathe and just be children, leaving behind the worries that come with inclement weather like lack of access to food, water, or heat/air. Here, in the library, they can step away from those fears and feel safe in a comfortable place.
