This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My photography students are in need of a DSLR camera because our current cameras are advanced point-and-shoot cameras and they have fixed lenses. The students also use their cell phones as well for photography but they are not great for low light conditions.

A DSLR (digital single lens reflex) camera has the user option of a change in lenses and therefore provides more learning opportunities for my beginning as well as advanced photography students.

With a DSLR camera, students can see the aperture (f-stops) inside the lens because the lens can be taken off the camera body. This understanding will help them make better-lit and focused pictures. In addition, a DSLR camera performs better when the subjects of the pictures are in motion and in low-light conditions, like at school plays and sports activities. Since my photo students often document school events for social media and the yearbook, the DSLR camera will provide better pictures.
