My Students

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist in an elementary school. I work with 30+ wonderful students who demonstrate difficulties with academic and social tasks. Students on my Speech/Language caseload are very hard-working, respectful, and eager to learn and grow. Many students in our school come from low income families, and our school is comprised of a large ELL (English Language Learner) population.

At our school, 96% of our students receive free or reduced-priced lunch.

Speech/Language therapy is a time to focus on skills and strategies that support students in executing academic and social tasks within the classroom.

My Project

Students on my caseload are diverse, caring, and dedicated students. It is important that students engage in reading diverse stories. With a diverse reading library, students can form connections to diverse characters within the story, as well as understand other cultures. Students will be able to gain an awareness of diverse cultures, beliefs, and lifestyles through literature. As students practice reading comprehension skills, students are also learning perspective taking, awareness, respect, and acceptance for all. I believe my students will greatly benefit from an updated, diverse library within the classroom!
