Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a Trust Counselor in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with many challenges throughout their lives, which impact their school and home lives.

Despite the many challenges they face, my students are always willing to lend a helping hand.

I am looking to expand, inspire and connect students with each other and their community while providing lifelong meaningful adventures.

On a yearly basis I am involved in many different projects through out the school. Many of which are student lead.

On any given day I can go from distributing school supplies to our neediest students to organizing school wide prevention lessons, coordinating the collections of our school pantry and boutique to organizing our next outdoor adventure through our Castaway Club to providing hands on support to our youth and their families.

My Project

I firmly believe that the earlier we engage our youth in a sport and helping others, we will increase their chances of being productive citizens today and in their future. The school supplies, memory sticks and composition books being requested are for the students in our school that are flagged as homeless and can not afford basic supplies. The speaker and blue tarps are for our Castaway Club to use during our camping trips. The tarps will be placed under our tents to prevent water from coming into the tent and the speaker will be used as we show a nightly movie during our camping trips. The jewelry and handbags are for The Gardens Boutique. The Boutique is a place where on a yearly basis our needy students get outfitted for prom; from head to toe. The card stock paper is to be used through out the school to decorate our boards with up lifting quotes and through the DFYIT Club our 110 Peer Counselors will also be using the card stock to make cards throughout the year.
