My Project

Each year, I teach about 150 students and they love coffee! This year I wanted to their reward positive behavior in ways that they love. During the first week of school, I took a poll to see what they'd like. Along with Gym Day passes and Lunch with the Teacher, students inquired about having a tea or coffee station - so I thought I'd give it a try but I'm not sure I can manage the cost alone.

Throughout the week, students have the opportunity to earn classroom cash and every other Friday they'll get to "buy" rewards and I know that coffee and tea is something they'll absolutely love!

Our school participates in Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) where their good behavior is rewarded in an effort to increase school culture and reduce incidents. In my class, we go the extra mile because students are able to earn Lewis Lewt (classroom cash) when they've submitted assignments on time or stayed on task.

In addition to the coffee cart, students will get to trade Lewis Lewt for snacks, teacher challenges (Beanboozled to name one), movie days, and more! My goal is to increase classroom participation, attendance, and overall morale and culture and help students gain money management skills. I want my students engaged and excited to come to class and I believe this coffee cart will help!
