Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a SPED Inclusion full day program with 18 students from different backgrounds. Half of my class is made up of special needs three and four year-old students. The rest of the class is made up of role models or mentors. Most of our students are second language learners and all are part of the school's free lunch program.

These students come to school eager to learn in a place where they feel safe and part of a school family.

I love to see how they develop and interact with each other as they make new discoveries.

My Project

Young learners are very adapted to the use of technology in many aspects of their lives. It is very hard to compete with an iPad or a tablet when it comes time to sit and work.

Making manipulatives and displays attractive can capture students' attention and aid in engagement during a lesson.

A Cricut Maker will enable us to make manipulatives and materials that are colorful and attractive, and, most of all, meaningful because they will represent our class!

We will be able to make materials for STEAM lessons. The Cricut Maker will also be shared with other teachers in the building who may need to create visual aids to support their students. It will also make the classroom print-rich and more inviting as well!
