This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What makes my students special? My students are special needs students who find learning difficult. Even though they struggle, they never give up. I am amazed everyday by their tenacity and work ethic. They strive everyday to overcome obstacles from home to come to school and then have to deal with their own learning issues. However, none of that stops them. They show up everyday, prepared for school, ready to be successful. Even when they do not master an assignment, and I give it back to re-do, they do! I am not saying they don't complain, or not want to revise their work, but they know in order to be successful, this is what they must do!

My Project

Having a cricut machine in my classroom will enable my students to be creative and have versatility when doing class projects. This machine will hopefully inspire them to go beyond the norm and be able to really personalize their ideas. Some of my students have difficulty using scissors, a skill that is taken for granted, and with the cricut will enable them to develop intricate designs without the pressure of cutting them out perfectly. The machine is also a learning tool because it must be paired with technology and in order to use it they must read and follow directions which is difficult for my special needs students.
