This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Highlighters, paper, cleaning supplies, and alternative seating can significantly benefit my students in various ways, especially in a Tier One school setting where the majority of students come from low-income backgrounds and rely on free and reduced lunch programs. Highlighters are essential tools for helping students engage with their texts more actively. They encourage students to identify key concepts, supporting better comprehension and retention of information. Cleaning Supplies: Maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment is crucial for effective learning. Cleaning supplies contribute to a safe and healthy space for students, reducing sickness and lowering student absences. Alternative Seating: Providing alternative seating options such as a couch and a carpet can cater to different learning styles and needs. Many students benefit from the ability to move while they learn, which can improve concentration and reduce restlessness. In a Tier I school setting, where 95% of my students are low-income, the impact of these supplies becomes even more vital. Many families face financial challenges and cannot afford to buy school supplies or maintain a conducive learning environment at home. By ensuring that my students have access to highlighters, paper, cleaning supplies, and alternative seating, I can help level the playing field. This support allows them to maximize their educational experiences and enhances their ability to succeed, fostering a sense of equity in the classroom.
