My Project

This is my fourth-year teaching students with special needs in a self-contained D75 co-located classroom! I am lucky enough to be looping with most of my class kindergarten-second grade class from last school year. Over the course of the school year my students, support staff and I became a family. One area that was lacking in my classroom last year was a whole group instruction area. A classroom rug for whole group instruction is a special place where everyone feels safe to explore new concepts and interact with each other.

A classroom rug will be a game changer in terms of whole group instruction.

It will provide my students with opportunities to interact socially with their peers, develop a stronger sense of personal space, and strengthen their core muscles while sitting up and laying on their stomachs during whole group instruction. Having a classroom rug will allow students in our co-located school to push in our classroom to give them opportunities to learn with their typically developing peers!
