A reading center in a kindergarten classroom is the perfect place to begin a love of reading! The reading center in our classroom is a friend's favorite, a cozy spot with book buddies and unit-themed books. Currently, we are in a farm-themed unit, so all the books and book buddies (small stuffed animals) are horses, cows, chickens, etc. The only thing that would make this center a little cozier would be a fluffy rug for our friends to lay down with a good book. I am a firm believer in teaching reading stamina at a young age and would love the opportunity to give them a cozy place to practice those reading skills.

Our kindergarten unit only has two large classroom rugs that were purchased over 10 years ago. Now that our unit is up to five kindergarten classrooms, some of us do not have rugs! This rug will be used as a central place in the classroom, a meeting spot for all students. We will have a morning meeting, whole group instruction, and flexible seating on this rug. This rug will allow me to assign each friend a place to sit and give them a nice place to gather every day!
