My Students

We are an energetic 3K class based in Springfield Gardens Queens New York. Our children come from low-income and high-need households. Our children are in need of rich language-based experiences that come through the art of literature. The children are a diverse group of learners who come to school eager and ready to learn. They come from diverse national backgrounds from such as Nigeria and Haiti. Their parents are invested in their children's education.

My Project

Children will be coming to school for the first time at ages 2 and 3 years of age. My goal is to create a warm nurturing learning environment. Our room needs comfy couches where our children can sit and read a book or take a baby and give it their bottle. As the classroom bustles with learning it also needs to provide the comforts of home so that our most precious learners feel safe in a new environment. This may be our new normal, but this is the only normal they ever known.
