Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Flexible seating will allow students to make choices that will benefit their learning. During independent work times, many students like to have the option to sit on the floor or a bean bag. Even though my students are older, they still love to work in a variety of locations in our room instead of at their desks. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them especially during independent reading. I have noticed they can be more productive when they are given a choice in their seating. They tend to make good choices about where they sit, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desks.

The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options in the reading nook to make more effective learning choices.

The floor cushions and pillows will be an option for students who like to work on the floor. The bean bag chairs will be a comfortable alternative to the desk chair and can motivate students to read and write more. Some students prefer staying at their desks, so I selected flexible bands to help with fidgety feet (especially during assessment time). Lastly, the SEL book bundle is a much needed addition/resource to my library to promote a safe inclusive classroom environment.

I hope that the additional seating options will help my students grow a love for reading or writing even more!
