My school is located in Germantown, Maryland. We are a small school compared to other schools in Germantown but we are growing quickly.
My students are very hard working second graders who love to have choices when it comes to their learning.
They are diverse in culture and background experiences as well as socioeconomics. They embrace each other differences and also realize that they have so much in common. They love to learn and I learn a lot from them each day.
My Project
I often have my students sit on the ground for whole group lessons. They enjoy coming together and it helps me with classroom management. Also, my students love to work around the classroom. They often read stretched out on the floor or do center work there. I currently do not have an area rug. A rug would add to their comfort. The one that I chose would give them an individualized, divided area.
I also often have students who would benefit from movement while working.
Balance balls are a great way to sit comfortably but also be able to move a little.
