This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Greetings! My name is Ms. A. and I am a second year 5th grade teacher. I am extremely eager to put bean bags in the class library. I am currently teaching in a Charter Elementary School located near the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development complex where multiple socioeconomically disadvantaged families reside in single-family dwellings. The government housing project is home to the majority of the student population. Believe me when I say that these students deserve my project.

My students care about their education, and I am seeking to enhance their learning by increasing the size of my classroom library.

Unfortunately, there is a limit on resources that I can get for my class from the school. I depend on donors like you to fund my project.

My Project

I have a large group of students that like to use the classroom library during DEAR time (Drop everything and read), and to do independent work. Unfortunately, my library only has two bean bags and some pillows for them to sit on. I would like to provide students with more sitting arrangements with the use of a carpet.

With a larger carpet I can have more students lay down or sit down to read, or do independent work.

Students can also use manipulatives, and work in small groups during class. Differentiated seating provides students with comfort and excitement about learning.
