My Project

Many of my students live on campus at a dorm and partner with a sports academy and struggle with being away from their families and homes during the school year. In order to make make my students feel more comfortable in their time away from home I want to have a cozy classroom environment for them to learn in with flexible seating and lighting that isn't harsh fluorescent lights. I've also included some classroom basics: pencils, dry erase markers, and hanging organizer files.

Since the impact of COVID-19 in schools, I've noticed so many students struggle to communicate and feel comfortable in the classroom when it was not as much of a gap in prior years.

The environment that students work and collaborate in can show a direct correlation to their ability in class. I want to be able to build up rapport with my students in fun and creative ways. Another example of supporting students SEL needs in class is with the bulletin board strips. My intention is to build a positive atmosphere where students can use an Instax camera to take photos and build comaraderie throughout the school year.
