This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a 4th-grade teacher on a campus where the majority of the students come from low-income​ families. My students include Non-Leps (Limited English Proficiency), Bilinguals, Spanish Speakers, and some with learning disabilities, ADD, and ADHD. They live in the poorest area of their city, in one of the poorest cities in the United States. Our campus is literally at the south tip of Texas, right next to the border wall. My students face many challenges in and out of the classroom, yet they are curious and always willing to learn. They need nurturing and motivation, as well as a positive environment where they will feel excited to learn and have fun while doing so.

My Project

The color laser printer and toner will be used to print out stories, worksheets and activities for my students, which is very important to have in color because it provides my bilingual students with a more intriguing visual aid. They will be able to create notes and cards for their family members for special occasions. It is very difficult to find a coworker that has their own personal colored printer to borrow when my students are trying to print pictures for Science Fair or projects. Many times they are not able to show their creativity through their colorful work because we are limited to black and white copies.

Having a color laser printer will promote creativity and will impress anyone who sees a finished project in color!
