Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In these difficult times that affected every student in New York City, even my 18 preschool students are mandated to stay home and take part in remote learning. This form of learning has affected the students emotionally because many of them express the desire to return to school to see their friends. Most of the students come from families with limited income before and are not able to buy them supplies to continue with their learning at home.

The students are currently participating in remote learning using the Class Dojo platform by watching short videos with lessons recorded by the teacher.

Since they have little or no materials to use at home, they are not able to be more creative and use different materials to part take in the learning. Most of the students use paper and crayons to show their work through pictures. I would like to provide them with arts and crafts materials that will excite them and promote creativity and imagination.

My Project

The materials that I am asking for my students will be delivered to each student. The materials will help them to become more involved in their learning using different modalities. Kids love bright colors and materials to manipulate, create and invent what is deep inside their minds.

Each material will open a new window of opportunities for learning and expressing in a unique way.

The construction paper will help the students to make collages and 3D projects that are relevant to the unit of study. The water paint and dot art will give them the opportunity to be creative and use their imagination in sharing their ideas and experiences. I know my students will be more willing and excited to complete their school work with these new materials.
