This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a small Title 1 school in Ozone Park, Queens. Since we are so small we don't always get as much funding as larger schools. We need it just as much. I

The kids are wonderful, and excited to learn!

I love how funny and happy they are. They love coming to school in person. About half of the children in our Kindergarten are ENL students. We are title 1 school, so many of our students are food insecure. A majority of our students are performing below grade level. Our Kindergarten children need a lot of visual support. They need colorful pictures to know what to do and where to go. The colorful visuals support their learning of new vocabulary and keep them interested in the work that is being presented.

My Project

We need ink! Kindergarten students need colorful displays and support materials to keep them interested. Our Kindergarteners were so lucky to get a beautiful printer from Donors Choose! Now we need more ink.

The children that I teach are mostly English Language Learners.

They are wonderful, and excited to learn, especially after 18 months at home. Children who are just learning to read and who are EL Learners need a lot of visual supports. They need those supports to be colorful to keep them engaged.

My entire Kindergarten Team, and their classes will benefit from this gift. Thank you in advance!
