Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic 7-9-year-old kids with a thirst for learning. Some of them are lifelong Richmond kids, while others are immigrants adapting to a new language and culture. They amaze me every day with their curiosity and positive attitude.

These children were in kindergarten when COVID-19 brought in-person learning to a halt.

The social, emotional, and academic toll of the quarantine was felt acutely here, as with schools across the country. We are working to repair unfinished learning from the pandemic.

My Project

My students were in kindergarten on March 13, 2020, when COVID-19 shut schools down. Thankfully, they are learning in person again. But the pandemic has left its mark, and my students need extra support to maintain a clean classroom and rich learning environment.

After a year of virtual learning, being together at school feels more precious than ever.

But in a classroom where students eat breakfast and snacks daily, we need more cleaning and organizational supplies!

This year, I teach the inclusion classroom. Since some of my students have disabilities, they need more visual supports. Donors Choose granted me a color printer previously, but now we need more color ink so that students have visual aids to support their learning.
