My Project

Covid has hit us hard. It has made it a challenge to get the students interested in learning. But, middle school students thrive on novelty. My students love to come into my classroom because they never know what to expect. One day it may look like a coffee house. The next day it might look like a campground. I like to keep them guessing to keep them engaged.

I have always wanted to turn my classroom into a black-lit glow room.

Everything in the room glows due to fluorescent colors and black lights. Math is mastered by working on unique and engaging problems that the students complete. Correct answers allow them to compete with one another to win a game, like tic-tac-toe, or Jenga. Funding this grant proposal will allow them to have that experience.

I incorporate science in my math lessons. It is much easier to learn math when there is a concrete lesson. Freezing point depression is one of those lessons. In order to teach that, you need ice - a lot of ice. That's where the ice machine comes in. One ice machine costs less money than what science teachers spend in 2 years. It is a good investment. This is only one way that I will use it. I will use it in other ways as well. In addition, the ice machine will be used by other teachers for other classes.
